Requirements

To use ArcGIS Tracker, your ArcGIS account, web browser, and mobile device must meet the requirements below. You can use the apps in any of the supported languages.

ArcGIS account requirements

Using ArcGIS Tracker requires an ArcGIS organizational account on ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7 or later. The specific account requirements depend on what you want to do.

Enable and manage location tracking

Enabling and managing location tracking is done by administrators of your organization. They must either be a default administrator or a custom administrator role with the following privileges:

  • User > create item
  • User > share to organization
  • Publisher > publish features
  • Admin > manage licenses
  • Admin > manage utility services

All administrators can pause location tracking, and the administrator who enabled it can also disable it. For information on roles and privileges, see User types, roles, and privileges for ArcGIS Online or User types, roles, and privileges for ArcGIS Enterprise.

Track mobile user location

Using the ArcGIS Tracker mobile app to track location requires that the mobile users are members of your organization, have the privilege to view content shared with their organization (Content > View content shared with organization), and have a license for the ArcGIS Tracker mobile app. The license is available as an add-on for all user types. For information on privileges and user types, see User types, roles, and privileges for ArcGIS Online or User types, roles, and privileges for ArcGIS Enterprise.

Create and share track views

Creating and sharing track views using the Track Viewer web app is done by administrators of your organization. They must be default administrators for ArcGIS Online or default administrators for ArcGIS Enterprise (not a custom administrator role).

View location tracks

Viewing location tracks (other than their own) requires that a user be a member of the organization, have the view location tracks and join groups privileges (Content > View location tracks and Groups > Join organizational groups), and have track views shared with them. The view location tracks privilege is granted to administrators by default and can be added to custom roles. For information on privileges and custom roles, see User types, roles, and privileges for ArcGIS Online or User types, roles, and privileges for ArcGIS Enterprise.

Track Viewer web browser requirements

Track Viewer is supported with the following desktop web browsers. For best performance, use the latest version of the browser.

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Safari
Note:

Microsoft Edge Legacy is only supported in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8 and earlier.
